Sebastian Church »

Sebastian was a founding Director of Almeida Capital. He has over 15 years of experience in private equity, corporate finance and financial management. Sebastian has been with Almeida since it was founded in 2000 and focuses on financial analysis, due diligence and secondary transactions.

Prior to Almeida, Sebastian gained extensive experience in corporate finance as Head of Finance at Gryphon Emerging Markets, a corporate finance house that specialises in emerging market transactions. He was previously Financial Controller at Banco Santander, a Spanish investment bank, and at Peregrine Securities, the international brokerage and investment bank. Prior to that he was Head of Finance at Carnegie's UK operations, specialising in stockbroking and corporate finance.

Sebastian is a qualified chartered accountant and has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Buckingham.

Simon Chadwick »

Simon Chadwick is an advisor to Almeida Capital covering the Japanese private equity markets. He has 9 years of private equity funds experience and 12 years of investment banking experience.

Simon has lived in Asia for eight years, including 5 years in Japan. He has successfully raised funds from Japanese institutional investors for a range of non-Japanese managers. He has raised funds for Japanese based managers and acted as advisor for secondary partnership transactions with Japanese institutions.

Simon was a managing director of Bear Stearns Private Funds Group following its acquisition of Crane Capital Associates where he was a partner. Previously he was the founder and managing partner of Chikusei Partners and the Tokyo representative of BSB, then the exclusive sub-agent in Japan for Helix Associates (now Jefferies Helix). Prior to this he was a director of Schroder Investment Management and worked for the Schroder Group for 12 years.

Simon has an MBA from IMD in Switzerland, an MA from SOAS, University of London, and a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from Oxford University. He is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Stefan Lehotkay »

Stefan is a Director of Almeida Capital. He has eight years experience in private equity and banking. He is responsible for due diligence, fund analysis and project management.

Stefan has managed fundraising and advisory engagements for clients in the US, UK, Central Eruope and Asia. He has extensive experience in the private equity secondaries market as an analyst and transition manager.

Prior to Almeida, Stefan spent five years with Von Braun and Schreiber, a private equity fund of funds based in Germany. He was responsible for origination and analysis of European and US venture capital and private equity funds. Stefan previously worked with Dresdner Bank in Munich.

Stefan has a Dipl.kfm in business administration from Ludwig Maximillian University, Munich. Stefan speaks German and Spanish.

Farah Shariff »

Farah is an Associate Director. She has seven years experience in private equity, corporate finance and accountancy. Farah is responsible for origination, fund analysis, due diligence and project management.

Prior to Almeida, Farah was at McQueen Limited, a corporate finance boutique specialising in consumer, leisure and retail M&A. She has worked on numerous transactions for leading mid-market private equity firms. Farah also spent three years at Deloitte where she qualified as a chartered accountant and worked in Private Equity Transaction Services and Financial Services Audit.

Farah has a Masters degree in Chemistry (First Class Honours) from Oxford University and is ACA qualified.

Ann Robinson »

Dr Ann Robinson was a founding director of Almeida Capital. She has an unparalleled network of relationships in the European pension funds industry having previously been head of the UK National Association of Pension Funds. Ann has over 25 years experience in private equity, pensions and policy.

Before joining Almeida, Ann was a senior member of the Myners team, which was commissioned by the UK Government to review the role of investment institutions in the UK and particularly to address private equity as an asset class.

As Director General of the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) from 1995 to 2000 Ann was responsible for protecting and promoting the interests of UK pension funds which collectively manage total assets in excess of £800 billion. Prior to the NAPF, Ann was Head of the Policy Unit at the Institute of Directors. Ann was previously a lecturer in politics at leading academic institutions in the UK including the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Durham.

Ann has an MA and PhD in political science from McGill University and an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.

Richard Sachar »

Richard Sachar is Managing Director of Almeida Capital. He has 20 years experience in private equity placement, fund management and consulting.

Richard has acted as a senior advisor to numerous leading private equity firms and blue-chip investment institutions. He has led successful fundraising engagements for private equity and venture capital firms based in the UK, Northern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, the US, South America, India, China and Japan.

Prior to Almeida, Richard was an Investment Director at Greenoak Capital Management, a fund of funds manager. Before that, Richard was a Director at BZW Securities (now Credit Suisse) where he was a member of the highest ranked media research team in the UK, and was formerly a consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Richard has an MBA from IMD in Switzerland, an MSc in Geophysics from Birmingham University and a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Bristol University.
